Reflecting on Today’s Earthquake

Energy Supply, Power Outage Updates, Reliability, Safety

We are happy to hear that no one was injured as a result of this morning's earthquakes. Two earthquakes – one at 5:51 a.m. and the other at 7:18 a.m., caused power outages to parts of Whitehorse, and to communities south of the city.

Power was restored fairly quickly, and a thorough inspection of all our critical assets (dams, LNG facility, diesel plants, and substations) has not revealed any damage.

However, the earthquakes are a good reminder to all of us to ensure we have a personal emergency plan. This link to a booklet we produced several years ago with the Yuon government's Emergency Measures Organization may give you some ideas on how to prepare or update your own plan.
