When you're dealing with equipment the size of Yukon Energy's wind turbines, repairs are almost always major undertakings. A critical piece of equipment failed on our Vestas turbine in 2005, which required us to remove the blades, nacelle (the rectangular box that houses the generator and other components) and ring gear (a large ring at the base of the gear box that helps the turbine blades turn into the wind), install a new ring gear, and put the turbine back together again. The following slide show by photographer Derek Crowe captures some of the work.
