The Power is in All Our Hands

Our Yukon grid electricity generation chart indicates the amount of electricity being generated and where that electricity is coming from. We recently updated the generation charts. When reviewing, keep in mind:

• The charts now include independent power producers (IPPs) that are one megawatt or larger in size and connected to the Yukon's main grid. IPP power generation in off-grid communities is not included.
• Currently, the IPPs generate wind and solar electricity. There is four megawatts of wind power and five megawatts of solar power connected to the main grid (not including smaller solar IPPs).
• Solar generation does not include the electricity generated from rooftop solar panels on homes or businesses.
• Thermal generation includes electricity generated by Yukon Energy's owned LNG and diesel units plus rental diesel units.
• Yukon Energy uses rental diesel generators when needed. 

There are several things you can do to reduce your electricity consumption. This could include washing your clothes with cold water, turning the lights off in rooms you’re not using, and unplugging electronics or appliances that are not in use.
