Diesel Facilities

For most of the year, we rely on hydro for our energy supply, with small amounts of electricity being produced by wind. During the cold winter months, we sometimes have to supplement using our diesel generators. We don't like to use diesel, since it's more costly and it's not good for the environment.

As the demand for electricity grows, we are looking for new sources of clean power so that we can keep our use of diesel to a minimum.

Yukon Energy has 19 generators that are powered by diesel oil: eight in Whitehorse (including one mobile unit), two in Mayo, six in Dawson (including one mobile unit) and three in Faro.
