Air Emissions Permits

The majority of the electricity supplied by Yukon Energy is produced using hydro power. However there are times when we must use our diesel generators, either as emergency back-up or to meet the peak demand.

The emissions from our diesel plants in Whitehorse, Faro, Dawson City, and Mayo are regulated and fully authorized by the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment  Board and the Yukon government's Environment department through the granting of an air emissions permit. The permit can be found on this page, along with the application made to YESAB and Environment Yukon for the permit.
