Mayo Dawson Power Line

The Mayo to Dawson Line

In 2003, Yukon Energy completed a 232-kilometre line between our Mayo hydro facility and Dawson City in the central Yukon. It was at that time the largest capital project undertaken in the history of the corporation and its completion was a significant achievement.

Along with supplying Dawson with clean hydro power (before the line was completed people in Dawson had to rely on diesel for their electricity), the new line is resulting in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of more than 10,000 tonnes a year. The new power line also provides grid power to residences and businesses along the transmission route, thereby enhancing the potential for business opportunities along that corridor.
