Solar photovoltaic systems and hybrid systems using solar and some other power source (such as a wind turbine), have long been considered a green power option for supplying electricity in remote locations.
During the summer of 2012, Yukon Energy installed a solar system at the Whitehorse Rapids Fishladder as a demonstration project. The system is helping to power the ladder's visitor reception building.
What does solar power have to do with salmon?
