We have two wind generators on Haeckel Hill near Whitehorse that have the combined ability to produce enough electricity for 150 homes.
We are also investigating the possibility of setting up wind farms at Tehcho (formerly Ferry Hill) near Stewart Crossing and Mt. Sumanik near Whitehorse. In 2011 we erected state-of-the-art wind monitoring equipment at Tehcho and are collecting data that we will use to determine if that location is a viable spot for a wind farm.
In March 2013 Yukon Energy hosted a workshop to explore the idea of wind as an energy source for the territory. All the presentations are available on this site.
To build a wind turbine in Yukon is quite a feat, as you'll see from this slide show.
